Shira was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After graduating from Dalhousie University with an advanced major in Psychology, she knew she would need to work in an industry that would allow for her creative and energetic personality to flourish.

Interested in furthering her Jewish heritage, Shira began leading birthright trips where she discovered the importance of maintaining a unified Jewish community and a strong sense of Jewish identity. Shira now works full time as alumni and outreach coordinator for the Birthright Alumni community and is in charge of the joint programming with JUMP.
